Dragonfly Healing and Learning Center
Hello! I’m Heather. I enjoy hiking, yoga, reading, going to brunch, sitting by the pool/lake/creek/river, being around animals and learning new things especially related to parenting and teaching. I began my education as an educator and taught elementary and secondary education for many years in Butte and Humboldt County. I received my B.A.’s in English Education and French, Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Single Subject Teaching Credential in English and primary French. I then received my Master’s of Teaching degree. In high school I took a Reiki 1 class with my mom. Years later, I realized something was missing and began my Holy Fire Reiki journey and am a Usui Holy Fire Reiki Ryoho Master, Holy Fire III Karuna Master, Holy Fire Animal Reiki Master Teacher and have completed level 1 & 2 of Crystal Reiki. Since having my daughter in 2016 I learned that a traditional public school setting would not be the best fit for her and began thinking outside of the box on creating a learning environment geared towards the students that I enjoyed working with the most and that is how Dragonfly Healing and Learning Center began. Dragonfly Healing & Learning Center is a members only (PMA/PEA) faith-based nonprofit learning center (508c1A). Spirituality is very important to me, and I strive to incorporate it throughout the day. It is a learning center geared at supporting homeschooling. We have many animals on my peaceful little farm in Butte Valley where I also practice and teach Animal Reiki. Through my own healing and growth and experience in education I acknowledge how precious childhood is and working with children where they are and not necessarily where they “should” be. Building relationships, mindfulness, playing, collaborating and creating are important life skills. I incorporate these things with animals, music, essential oils and my nurturing presence. Looking at each child and animal with a heart centered approach gives me the opportunity to meet them where they are and support them with what they need. I love it!
